Indications

The Reitan Catheter Pump is intended for the treatment of patients with circulatory failure:

1. Patients with chronic heart failure in periods of deterioration

2. Support during high risk Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI) procedures

3. End-organ failure related to circulatory failure

4. Cardio-Renal Syndromes

5. Pre- and post-operative failure

Only quite recently the interaction between heart and kidney has been defined more clearly. Up to now cardio-renal syndromes were described as the onset or worsening of the renal function due to heart failure and vice versa. To maintain blood pressure for organ perfusion, high cardiac output is mandatory. As the only pump today with a flow capacity of more than 20 liters/min the RCP is probably the only percutaneous circulatory support system able to support the circulation in this situation.
